· Italian derby Cian-Simoncelli in the quarter finals

Second day of the Trombini Challenge Trophy 2003 races at Marina di Ravenna, International match race between 12 great skippers. The qualifying Round Robins finished in conditions of about 10-12 knots, 4 teams eliminated and 8 go on to the quarter finals.
The quarter finals have already started. The classification is as follows:
First place James Spithill (aus), followed by Gram-Hansen (DK), Ed Baird (USA) and Paolo Cian ITA). It was a fight to the last for the other four places.
(ITA) Matteo Simoncelli (5°), (NL) Roy Heiner (6°), (GBR) Ian Williams and (7°) and (FIN) Staffan Lindberg (8°). The four eliminated from the Trombini Trophy 2003 are Tommaso Chieffi (ITA) , Luc Pillot (FR), Cameron Appleton (NZ) and Chris Law (GBR).
The big names out of the race confirm the high level of the event organized by Progetto Vela in collaboration with Circolo Velico Ravennate and International Yacht Club Marinara.

Owing to the good conditions they were able to start the quarter finals with a constant 10 knots wind. After two races James Spithill scorse 2-0 against Staffan Lindberg; Paolo Cian is ahead with the same score 2-0 against Matteo Simoncelli in the third quarter final
The scorse is 1-1 between Jes Gram-Hansen e Ian Williams; also equal Ed Baird e Roy Heiner, 1-1. Sabato 12 July will be the last part of the quarter finals and the start of the semi finals: The finals will take place on Sunday 13 July.
